Talk of the town from our social media

-

We t o l d o f t h e “disappointment” in the lack of money being pumped into Ayr railway station.

Georgie Dawson said: “I don’t understand why Network Rail didn’t buy the Station Hotel when it had the chance.

“It could have opened it up as a hub with shops in the foyer and accommodation upstairs.

“Now we have an owner of the hotel who has been all talk no action, and if it is left much longer the building will be unsalvageable.”

Joe Smart said: “Why did SAC not purchase the Station Hotel for its officec and make it the centre- piece of the town?

“Instead of the eyesore its building it is becoming.”

Willie Bone said: “The only cure is to demolish the old hotel because nobody wants to own it, nor use it.

“Rebuild an interchange public transport hub on the site, linking trains, buses, taxis and bicycle hire, all under one roof that is weather sealed.

“Ayr needs that interchange hub as an attraction for everyone to use, unlike the unwanted old relic of a hotel that is falling apart.”

Tesco in Ayr was slammed for the mess around the store which they have been warned about for years.

Lynsey Smith said: “My children are well trained I say to them ‘ Would you like to live in a bin?’

“Answer is no, therefore, they don’t throw their rubbish on the street.”

John Manson said: “Has anyone seen the state of the litter strewn car park at the rear of the empty Budgens/ Somerfields supermarket at Prestwick Cross ?”

“Veronica Swain said: “The whole of Scotland needs to clean up its act!”

A monster rat “as big as a small cat” was blamed for eating a dog’s food.

Kelly Cruickshanks said: “The area has been bad for them for years and the council know this.

“I lived on Lochside Road a few years back and had a bad case of rodents.

“It was terrible, they were running about my kitchen in broad daylight and would be in the cats’ bowls.

“It’s really bad in that area. “Needs dealt with.

“With so many people living with the problem council need to do something.”

Sandra Wood said: “It would have made sense for the guy from the council to phone the lady who made the complaint first to see if she was in instead of a wasted journey.”

A popular playpark in Ayr shut down for safety.

Yv McLellan said: “Well done SAC for committing to the upkeep of the park.”
