Bonanza time
BROOMHILL
Freezing temperatures always meant fishing would be hard in Broomhill Bonanza qualifier on Sunday.
Jamie McGlinchey was the only angler to catch from deep water peg 24. He caught carp, weighing in at 12lb which was enough to see him make the final.
Another draw took place to see who would join him and that went to Sandy McKay. Maggots and bread are best baits fished on the tip rod.
Fly Pond: Tam Jarvie won the Broomhill Winter Knockout to net himself £ 200. He beat Jim McQuiston 17- 8. Jim won £ 100 for being runner- up.
Mick Davidson caught the heaviest fish in the competition, a nice 9lb 8oz rainbow and won a new Airflo rod.
Scott McDonald released 22 trout, including a cracking 16lb rainbow, in only four hours on Sunday.
Andy Dunning, who caught one of the Goldies, netted himself £ 200 plus a cap courtesy of Mikey McCallum. He released nine, Including a 16lb 9oz rainbow.
Fish from 3lb to 16lb were stocked to kick off the start of the season.
Blue dye was introduced into the bait pond over the weekend and another stocking takes place this week.
BURNS TROUT FISHERY
The Clydesdale Bank AC visited and caught 20 fish. Heaviest bag went to Frazer Young with four fish for 9lb.

SPRINGWATER
Some good catches from the fly loch despite the cold weather.
Dougie Inglis released 15, Michael Heuchan c/ r five, Brian McKinley c/ r four, Scott Crossan c/ r four, Dia four for 17lb, James four for 16lb released two, Jim four for 15lb 8oz released eight, Andy four for 14lb released four, Andy four for 10lb released two, Wullie Olssen released a nice 15lb rainbow, William McGarry released eight including a 14lb rainbow.
Bait loch: Davie Kernachan three for 7lb 8oz, Davie McKie three for 6lb 8oz, Mr Handson three for 7lb 8oz, brothers Kinzie and James Breen three for 7lb 8oz.
Coarse loch picking up. Dezz released seven carp to 8lb, Cameron released two carp to 10lb, Jim smith also released a couple of carp.
