New help for unemployed

- Gary Fanning

A new service was launched on Tuesday to help unemployed people find work in Ayrshire.

Employability experts Startscotland are delivering the Scottish Government’s new Fair Start Scotland service to help people access personalised support to find suitable, sustainable work.

S t a r t s c o t l a n d , a partnership between The Lennox Partnership and Working Links, will deliver the new service across the region from their Ayr base.

They say the service will identify each person’s needs ans give them a dedicated personal adviser.

Startscotland is working with a range of partner organisations to deliver the service. This means customers will be able to access a full service, wherever and whenever they require it.

The company’s Nick Young said: “We’ll be working with people for up to 18 months to find work then offer highquality, in- work support for a further 12 months after people have found a job, ensuring that individuals and their employer are comfortable, helping people progress their careers.

“T h e s e r v i c e i s comprehensive and accessible locally.

“We’ll provide our services from a range of locations. We’ll be there where people need us.

“And we will be able to provide employers with job- ready candidates, inwork training and skills progression.”
