Beethoven and Butterflie­s – A piano recital will be given by Gilmour MacLeod on Sunday, April 15, at 2.30pm in Troon Old Parish Church.

This recital is raising funds for Dr Graham’s Home in Kalimpong and tickets are priced at £ 7. The tickets are on sale at Words @ Music and at the door on the day of the recital.

Council advice – Cllr Peter Convery will hold a Surgery in Troon Municipal Buildings, South Beach, from 6.30pm – 7.15pm on Wednesday, April 11.

Concert – Troon Chorus are holding their spring concert in St Meddan’s Parish Church on Saturday, April 21, at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced £ 8 (£ 4 under- 18s) and can be purchased from Words and Music and choir members or at the door on the evening of the concert. The concert will supportHel­p for Heroes.

AGM – The AGM of Troon OIR will be held in Portland Church Hall on Wednesday, April 11, at 2pm.

Items on the agenda include an increase in the annual membership and election of new committee members.

Healthy future – Informatio­n sessions are being staged in the Walker Hall on April 18 from 1.30pm- 3.30pm and 6.30pm8.30pm. This is to see what the intregrate­d health and social care service will look like over the next three years.

History – Ayrshire Family History Society are travelling to Eastriggs in Dumfriessh­ire on April 19.

The group will explore the Devil’s Porridge Museum. Bus leaves Ivy Cottage at 10am, returning at 4pm.

Probus – Legendary features writer Grace Franklin will talk about journalism to Troon Probus Club on April 9 at the South Beach Hotel.

Grace, once of this parish, spent many a year clattering her typewriter at the Daily Record.

10k entries – Entries to this year’s Troon 10k were expanded to 1400 adults and, as usual, it is a sell- out.

The race is on Wednesday, May 2, leaving South Beach at 7.30pm.

Bowlers – Troon Bowling Club has cut the rate of first year membership to £ 60 in a bid to expand numbers.

Craft fair – A craft fair in aid of Alzheimers UK will be staged at Portland Church Hall on Saturday, April 28, from 10am to noon. Entry is £ 1, children free.

Art talk – The Arts Society of Ayrshire met on Monday in the Walker Hall. Claire Walsh gave a talk on African art from the 16th to 19th centuries.

Animal aid – Dementia Dogs are coming to Troon. The animals carry out a variety of useful household tasks for people living with dementia: reminding them to take medication, helping them to get up, get dressed and go out and about. For more informatio­n contact bark@ dementiado­g. org. ertson
