Mag for strictly seniors only
A magazine which encourages ‘ living life to the full for all seniors’ has launched its sixth edition.
Strictly Seniors highlights services available for older people and was put in place at Girvan Community Hospital last month.
Tim Eltringham Director of South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership launched the event with the help of hosts Girvan and South Carrick Villages Locality Planning Group. Seniors from many voluntary organisations, and Health and Social Care staff attended the launch which included short presentations from local groups on what they offer and have achieved in the last year.
Peter Walker, Chair of Girvan and South Carrick Villages Locality Planning Group said: “We know that people want to remain independent in their own homes and communities for as long as possibly.
“From Men’s Sheds to Textile Groups; from Falls Prevention classes to community choirs – there really are hundreds of activities and clubs that will support people to remain healthy and active.”
Strictly Seniors features articles from health and care practitioners and is full of diverse ways to become active and healthy with the aim of reducing social isolation and loneliness.
A number of establishments will distribute 5000 copies across South Ayrshire.
Copies can be picked up at; libraries, community centres, churches, health centres and clinics and voluntary organisations or you can collect a copy from South Ayrshire Life on Newmarket Street in Ayr.
