Top rod Dougie pulls a big one

The fly loch continues to produce the big fish as top rod Dougie Thomson released six including a 19lb brownie and a 8 lb rainbow.

Dougie Inglis released 14 including an 11lb rainbow. Other catches: Derek Russell c/ r 15, Simon Littlejohn c/ r seven, George McLeod four for 11lb 14oz, Tam Mcnaughton four for 10lb 10oz, Neil Cox four for 10lb 10oz, George Young three for 9lb, Alan Warnock four for 9lb, Hugh McLeod three for 8lb 8oz, Kevin Mcpartland released a 15lb rainbow, Ian Crossan c/ r 11, Neil Shankland c/ r eight, Mick Goodwillie c/ r six, Jim Bigger c/ r four, Hugh McLeod c/ r nine, Neill four for 12lb released six including a 14lb rainbow, Billy c/ r four, Mr Ross five c/ r including a 12lb brownie and a 16lb brownie, Mr Barren two fish for 5lb, Mr Duffy two for 5lb, Jim Tumilty two for 7lb 4oz, Ian Stirrat released a 20lb rainbow.

Bait loch: Gordon Anderson caught and released a cracking 14lb brownie, Davie Kernachan six for 15lb, N Russell three for 7lb 2oz, Kieran three for 7lb 1oz, Alan 3 for 6lb 9oz.

Coarse loch continues to pick up Ian Eastwood released three carp and a couple of nice bream, Cameron Dodds and his mate had a good evening releasing eight carp and a 2lb roach, Jim Smith released a nice 8lb carp some good roach and bream also caught.

AYR ANGLING CLUB

The river cannot be stocked until May 1 by order of Marine Scotland but both lochs have been extra well stocked to compensate.

Permit prices are: adult £ 80, seniors £ 60, juniors £ 25.

There is fishing all year at Snipe Loch. Tickets are available at Gamesport, Ayr and at Lochside.

The club welcomes all new and existing members.

BROOMHILL

Gordy Taylor was this year’s winner of the Broomhill Frenze Winter League. Stuart McCowan won the last round on Sunday with 29lb.

600lbs of F1 Carp from 8” to 12” got stocked recently but due to the continued cold weather there still bald up on certain pegs so check with the Fishery Staff for best Pegs and Baits.

Qualifier 2 of the Broomhill Bonanza takes place this Sunday on the Carp Water.

Fly Pond: Willie Riddicks was the top rod over the Easter Weekend releasing 22 trout including 2 DBls, 1 13lb and 1 10lb Rainbow.

Bait pond was busy over the weekend with lots of fish caught.
