Police rush to house after early- morning incident

A probe was underway this week after a man was viciously attacked on Easter Sunday.

The 32- year- old was rushed to Ayr Hospital after the savage assault in Walker Road, Ayr, about 5am.

The area was cordoned off on Sunday and two officers were stationed outside a property.

A forensic team wearing white suits were said to be taking items from the house and searching the back garden for clues or a possible weapon.

Two men have been arrested in connection with a brutal attack on Easter Sunday.

The pair, aged 30 and a 31, were alleged to have been involved in a serious assault on Walker Road, Ayr, in the early hours of Sunday, April 1.

An ambulance attended the scene shortly after 5.40am and the 32- year- old victim was admitted to Ayr Hospital for his injuries.

Forensics and police attended the incident which happened about 5am and cordoned off a home in Walker Road.

Two officers were seen standing guard outside shortly after the incident.

The incident was said to be taped off “all day” with a forensics team “taking things out from the house” and searching for clues and a possible weapon.

The back garden was also said to be sealed off.

One neighbour, who wished not to be identified, said: “I think it must have happened in the early hours as we woke up to police outside the house.

“I’m fairly new to the area so don’t know much.

“I did see the forensic team with their white suits on and they were there most of the afternoon.

“It was quite upsetting actually.” Another man in Walker Road confirmed forensics attended the incident.

He said: “Forensics were there all day, taking things out the house.”

A further neighbour commented: “Someone must have reported something because I woke up to take the dogs for a walk and there were police there and it was cordoned off.”

A police spokesman said: “We attended an incident on Walker Road at around 5am on Sunday, April 1.

“Two men aged 31 and 30 were arrested for serious assault and will appear at Ayr Sheriff Court this week.”

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 5.40am on Sunday, April 1 to attend an injured patient in Walker Road, Ayr.

“We dispatched one ambulance and a man in his 30s was transporte­d to Ayr Hospital.”

On Monday, the road appeared eerily quiet with no sign of police tape and the living room curtains of the flat left open.

The men were due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court on Tuesday.
