Sickening attack posted online

These are the shocking images of a 16- year- old boy who was stamped on the head and face in a frenzied attack captured on film.

The sickening footage shows the teenage victim being repeatedly kicked on the head and face up to 20 TIMES in a brutal assault witnessed by other children who refused to intervene to help.

The 24- second film, which has been posted on social media and sent to The Post, shows a youth in a brown hooded jacket and black jeans stamping on his terrified victim’s head as at least three other youths look on.

The brute then repeatedly kicks the boy’s head and face with his trainers.

At one point the boy covers his head with his hands to protect himself from more blows.

But his attacker pulls him back and reigns in more punches into his face, head and body.

Girls are heard in the background screaming and one shouts:” Oh my God!”

Residents in the area said worried neighbours acted like Good Samaritans and intervened to put a stop to the attack.

Passers- by at the bus stop watched in horror before fleeing the scene for their own safety.

The horrifying incident took place last Monday in Prestwick’s Main Street near to Boydfield Ga r d e n s a b o u t 7 . 2 0 p m . Eyewitness­es claimed his attacker dragged him from a bus stop in the Main Street before launching the attack in Boydfield Gardens.

One 53- year- old neighbour said he contacted police three times about the incident before officers arrived.

“If we didn’t do something the victim could have been killed,” he said.

“We ha d t o i n t e r v e n e. “There was a group of about 20 youths who all kept quiet

“Nobody was doing anything to stop this.

“I dialled 101 about 7.15pm and two minutes later I dialled 999. It took about 25 minutes for the police to arrive.

“People were running for cover.

“I ran down to help along with other neighbours. “We want to stop it from escalating. “This needs highlighte­d. We need to stop it from happening again.

“If that was your boy you would hate to see what happened to him

“The police’s response was unacceptab­le.

“The group had dispersed by the time police arrived.

A spokesman for Ayr Police said a 16- year- old boy will be reported to the procurator fiscal after another 16- year- old boy was assaulted on Prestwick Main Street on April 2 at 7.20pm.

He added: “Police responded to reports of a male being assaulted. Witnesses pointed out the alleged perpetrato­r who, following a short foot chase was apprehende­d and charged. The victim of the alleged assault received minor injuries.

“A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal regarding the incident.”

If we didn’t do something the victim could have been killed. We had to intervene.
