The ‘ face of Ayr’ will undergo a public trial next week.

Fort, Seafield and Wallacetow­n Community Council will host a meeting to dissect the proposal for the new council office on Ayr High Street.

Community council chair Norman McLean said: “We feel duty bound to let the community have their say and have therefore the owners of a troon coffee shop were full of beans after scooping two top awards.

the strawberry Cushion in Church street was originally owned by Jo’s grandparen­ts, aldo and Morag Cecchini, from 1985 until around 1998 when they sold the business to solely focused on their chain of Italian restaurant­s, Cecchini’s.

Jubiliant Jo added: “I have fond memories of spending many an afternoon in the coffee shop after school.

“the coffee shop went through a number of owners and a name change until we bought the business in april 2016, exactly 31 years after my Nana had originally bought the shop.

“While putting our own stamp on the business, much to our customers delight, we rebranded the coffee shop back to the iconic‘ the strawberry Cushion’.”
