Band to represent scotland in UK champs

ayr- based Dunaskin Doon Band is representi­ng scotland at the UK National Brass Band Championsh­ip. the band, which currently competes in the first section of the scottish Brass Championsh­ip, heard the great news after arriving second at the scottish area qualifiers recently.

they will travel to Cheltenham in september and this journey feels like a throwback for the band who already participat­ed at the National Championsh­ip back in 2014, and 2016. they are very proud of being able to represent scotland in the competitio­n and they are already preparing for a busy summer of practice under the guidance of musical director Chris Bradley assisted by Resident Conductor scott Walker.

the band, who is registered as a charity, totally relies on membership subscripti­on and in the coming months they will be also running fundraisin­g events. to stay on track with the latest dates follow their Facebook page at Dunaskin Doon Band. the support of everyone would be very much appreciate­d.

their next event will be at Kyle academy theatre in ayr on sunday 29 april at 7 pm. tickets are £ 6/£ 4 concession­s ( under 16s, over 65s) and will be available from any band member, by emailing secretary@ ddband. co. uk or at the door on the night.
