Lochside Monday library sessions

-

Book lovers in Ayr are being given speedy access to library services from the heart of their community.

The new Carnegie Express is setting up shop at the Lochside Community Centre every Monday from April 9.

The service will see staff from Carnegie provide a selection of books to borrow.

People will also be able to join the library, return books and find out about the other services available, including ebooks, audio books, newspapers, magazines and ancestry searches.

Brian McGinley, the council’s portfolio holder for tourism and leisure, hopes that people would make good use of the new service.

He said: “We’re doing things differently to help take services out into the community to broaden access to as many people as possible.

“This pilot project gives book lovers the opportunity to use the new pop- up library while encouraging more people to sign up as members to our network of libraries, helping to increase use and making facilities sustainable in the long term.

“The Carnegie Express is a great example of taking a novel approach to service delivery and I’d urge people in Lochside to come along and find out more about this exciting new service.”

The Carnegie Express will run every Monday between 1.30pm and 4pm.
