Booster for business

- Abi Smillie

Help is at hand for start- up businesses and growth in Carrick and rural areas.

Businesses are being offered additional support to secure financial growth in the next three years.

A seminar was held at the Quay Zone in Girvan last month where 40 people were given a preview of the Ambition programme.

The Ambition to Achieve programme will provide new and existing businesses with access to a range of specialists in sales and marketing, finance, digital, procurement, people, innovation, and management development.

It is due to officially relaunch later this year, with a specific focus on supporting growth for existing businesses and help individuals to start- up.

The programme will be offering a range of grants to help support businesses during periods of transition and those looking to hire at least one additional full- time employee within the next 24 months.

South Ayrshire Council is committed to supporting local companies to maximise their performance, creating business growth, and securing new jobs for the local economy.

Councillor Peter Henderson, South Ayrshire Council’s Portfolio Holder for Resources and Performance said: “We’re committed to supporting rural areas and help to promote businesses, both old and new, is central to our wider work.

“The Quay Zone session provided an invaluable opportunity to hear directly from local business people about their major priorities, as part of our shared aims of achieving growth and creating jobs for the local economy.

“We’re gearing up to provide a broad range of support to companies across South Ayrshire through the new look Ambition programme, with the official relaunch taking place this spring.”
