Little Paintings are big draw at 10th anniversary display

-

Art lovers mingled with top artists from across Scotland at a charity exhibition on Thursday, March 1.

Hansel’s annual Little Paintings Exhibition celebrated its 10th year and featured works from big stars of the art world such as Peter Howson, Lin Patullo, Helen M Turner, Gerard R Burns and Steven Brown.

Many paintings were snapped up, racking up over £ 4000 for the charity on the first day alone.

The exhibition included 80 works of art from well- known artists along with paintings from amateur artists and young artists from the Little Art School.

Sheila McLean, Hansel fundraising manager, said: “It was wonderful to catch up with some of the artists who have so generously given up their time to create pieces for the events over the last decade.

“And of course to see the familiar faces who always come along to Little Paintings and dig deep for the charity.”

The event was sponsored by Steven Brown Art who is one of Scotland’s more successful artists and creator of the famous McCoo paintings.

Sheila added: “I would like to say a big thank you to all the artists, to Steven Brown, to the students of the Little Art School who submitted paintings to the exhibition and of course our fantastic supporters.”

This year’s event was especially important for Sheila, not only because it was the 10th anniversary exhibition, but will be her last as she leaves the charity later this year.
