RUNNING

It’s been a slower start to the 2018 season than had been expected for Troon Tortoise runners due to weather.

Both the Stranraer Half Marathon and club target race the Alloa Half Marathon were cancelled due to the snow meaning there have been limited opportunit­ies to put all the winter training to test.

The road season did start in earnest last Sunday with the Tom Scott 10 mile race at Strathclyd­e Park.

Seven club members took part with Lewis Wilson coming home first in a time of 1.05.18.

Sharon McNichol was first female finisher from the club in a strong time of 1.13.40.
