The market place has significantly changed over the last few years, Caledonian’s workload has increased considerably ( we now have over 50 employees and 25 vans) all servicing mainly within Ayrshire.
Although we do have installations going in all over Scotland, however, we find that although we still install conservatories, we are now doing much more in the way of orangery’s, sunrooms and extensions. People tend not to move house so much nowadays so the preference in the last few years has been to enhance their property by adding an extra room which can be used all year round. The conservatories from 25 years ago although very popular were mainly constructed with polycarbonate roofs and resulted in the conservatory being too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. This leads to one of our major growth areas which is our Tiled Roof division. This allows our customers to remove the polycarbonate roof and replace it with a modern well insulated, durable, composite tiled roof that complies with Current Building Regulations, unlike some installations we have been made aware of in this area which do not comply.
