It’s a McEwan family affair
Honoured for all their hard work
Two brothers and their sister were congratulated for bagging top titles earlier this month.
William, Gabby and Russell McEwan earned Youth Achievement Awards at a Bronze, Silver and Platinum level and were presented with their awards at the Z1 Youth Bar on Monday, April 9.
William earned a Platinum Award, Gabby scored Silver and Russell bagged Bronze.
The youngsters were supported to complete their awards through Girvan Youth Trust ( GYT) and are already inspiring and motivating other volunteers to work towards similar goals.
Ian McLaughlin, Chief Executive of Youth Scotland popped along to present them with certificates.
Ian was able to congratulate William further as he is the first person in South Ayrshire to have achieved the Platinum status outwith school.
He was also the 50,000th person to receive a youth award from Youth Scotland.
Ian said: “It was an honour and a joy to present Youth Achievement Awa rds to 3 members of # TeamMcEwan at Z1 Youth Bar.
“What a privilege to present Youth Scotland’s 50,000th Youth Award to William McEwan - a worthy recipient of his Platinum Youth Achievement Award.
“Well done one and all.” Youth Achievement Awards follow a Plan- Do- Review process and offer young people the opportunity to set themselves targets, increase their skills, work alongside others and to develop essential social skills.
The awards also allow them to gain formal recognition and accreditation through the SQA for their achievements.
Gabby and Russell have already progressed onto their next level and are currently organising activities and events to benefit other young people as part of the process.
William has recently attended Advanced Youth Achievement Award Training through Youth Scotland .
He is currently working with the ‘ Life’s a Journey’ and ‘ Hand in Hand’ projects within GYT as an Award Group Worker; supporting individuals and groups of young people to work towards and achieve Youth Awards.
Gillian Horne, Youth Development Worker for GYT added: “We feel that these young people deserve recognition for their amazing achievements. “All of them have additional support needs and have exceeded all expectations.”
