Talk of the town from our social media

-

South Ayrshire Council admitted that they received ‘ mixed opinions’ over their town centre overhaul plans.

Steven Mackie said: “11 million is not exactly something majority want wasted on office blocks that don’t look nice in Ayr High Street.

“If it’s going to cost 11 million, atleast have a good few suggestions that everyone can vote on to see what goes there.”

Jimmy Campbell said: “17million in dept, cut the budget for the air show ( which brings people and money to the town ) and say cuts still need to be made.

“Yet they still want this 11million office. It’s a joke.”

Alan Keith said: “I’m not one to jump on the council bashing bandwagon but the Station Hotel instead of this seems a no brainer.

“Split the building with a hotel company and a nice grassy parkland overlooking the river at bottom of town.

“This would cost next to nothing comparatively, win- win for top and bottom of the town.”

We told that Jennifer Wallace of Tarbolton Primary has been nominated for Teacher of the Year.

Rosemary Jones said: “Good luck.

“I feel chuffed to have been there at the start of your career.”

Linda Currie said: “Fantastic teacher, well deserved.”

Mags Kirkwood said: “Well done. Fingers crossed for you.”

The Curry Leaf takeaway in Ayr has been shortlisted for a top gong in the Curry Awards.

Neil Beatson said: “Great curries.

“Always our go to Indian takeaway.

“Staff are always great too.” Kelly Cruickshanks said: “Love this place.

“Been getting from it since they opened and their curries are outstanding.

“Dont go anywhere else folks!” Emily J Tteknulp said: “Best korma in town!”

We told that the train prices were causing a stir as a monthly ticket from Ayr or New Cumnock to Glasgow costs over £ 200.

David Wills said: “Ayr to Glasgow, when you compare £ 80 return in an Uber door to door in relative safety and warmth, when four are travelling.

“Compared to £ 50 train tickets, plus taxi at both ends to add on, Scotrail need to wake up.”

Julie Pringle said: “My annual season ticket is £ 2,000 and husbands is the same.

“That’s a lot of money out of our pockets every year, and Scotrail can’t even clean the lift in central station when you ask them, I wonder what holiday makers think.”
