Read, and see Killie for free

-

There’s still time for young library members to score free match tickets for Kilmarnock FC’s home games at Rugby Park when they take part in the 4- 4- 2 Reading Challenge.

The Scottish Book Trust and the Scottish Professional Football League Trust are behind the pioneering project, which aims to encourage children aged five to 12 to read.

Participating East Ayrshire Leisure library members will be issued with a Challenge card and receive a stamp for every book borrowed and read.

Once the card is completed with four stamps, it can be exchanged for a free child’s ticket and a discounted adult ticket at the Kilmarnock FC ticket office.

Youngsters can repeat the reading challenge as many times as they wish throughout the duration of the event.

SPFL Trust Chief Executive Nicky Reid said: “The 4- 4- 2 Reading Challenge initiative is designed to encourage children who don’t regularly visit the library or sport to do so. As such, we think it’s a real win- win opportunity for all concerned”.

“We have high hopes that it can be a hugely successful programme, and so we are grateful to the SPFL for their support to allow us to kick- off.”

The 4- 4- 2 Reading Challenge runs until Thursday, May 31, and completed Challenge cards can be redeemed for discounted tickets to eligible matches played before Wednesday, October 31. Tickets are subject to availability and early booking is recommended.
