Golden Age at The Gaiety

-

The successful ‘ The Green Room’ series of talks hosted at The Gaiety is coming to an end with its last event ‘ The Golden Age’ on Wednesday, April 25.

This time round they explore hidden stories from people who worked with the former owners of the theatre, the Popplewell family, since its opening in 1902 until the current days.

Barbara Mackie daughter of first ever Gaiety stage manager Andrew ‘ Deb’ Young will share stories of her family who for three generations have worked in the theatre.

Barbara will be joined by Fraser Boyle, who appeared on the Gaiety stage in several occasions since its reopening in 2012 playing one of the ugly sisters in Cinderella.

Fraser is a real inspiration for younger actors.

His passion for theatre from when he was four years old took him to graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Successful scriptwriter and performer, Fraser co- produced the sold out and touring show Dolls Abroad.

Fraser will share his fond memories and hopes to speak to younger generation who are thinking to start their theatre journey.

The event which takes place in the pub styled Studio Theatre of The Gaiety, is an opportunity to enjoy some live music and to explore unique archive material and exhibitions.

The Golden Age heritage talk is part of ‘ The Green Room’ series.

It’s a Pay What You Decide event on Wednesday, April 25 7- 8pm in The Studio Theatre.
