I’ll run 24 hours for my aunt
Ultra-fit Linzi is pounding the pavements for charity
Super girl Linzi Noble is taking marathon running to a whole new level in memory of her inspirational aunt.
Much-loved mum-ofone Viv McBeth died last year aged only 44 after battling a brain tumour.
Linzi, 26, of Prestwick, has stepped up to the challenge of running around a four-mile loop for a solid 24 hours in the Scottish Highlands.
Viv raised £1.4 million for the Brain Tumour charity so Linzi is competing in the gruelling Glenmore 24 in Aviemore to generate cash for the same cause.
She said: “I lost my aunt in July last year. She fought a brain tumour for 13 years and worked tirelessly for the charity. It was close to her heart.”
Linzi’s fundraising challenge kicks off at noon on September 1 and finishes the following day at the same time.
Linzi, 26, said: “I will try and run it as many times as I can. I think Viv would think I was crazy and would have told me not to injure myself. She would make a joke along the line somewhere too but I hope she would be proud. I wanted to do something physically and mentally testing. My aunt had to battle a terrible disease and she had no choice. I felt I needed to really challenge myself.’’
The Prestwick Tennis Centre worker has been pounding the pavements and doing tailored strength exercises.
Plucky Linzi has no running experience putting her on the back foot.
Personal trainers at Form Fitness are giving her tips to keep her on track.
But her schedule has been hampered with Achilles tendinitis and a knee injury.
Linzi’s cousin Graham Hopper, Viv’s nephew, just completed the London Marathon so is also on hand with plenty of advice.
She said: “He even showed me the proper way to tie my shoe laces. I am so grateful for all the support from my friends and family.”
Linzi has set up a JustGiving page for donations and will chart her ultra event adventure for Viv on Instagram.
Describing her muchloved aunt, she said: “She was extremely caring and very selfless. She never did anything for herself - always for others. She was bubbly, hilarious and always cracking jokes.”
