Talk of the town from our social media

-

We told that the new Arran ferry could make a detour to Troon as Ardrossan drowns in turmoil.

Rob Carrol said: “Seems like the common sense solution is to move the service to Troon permanently rather than squander taxpayers’ money.”

James Beattie said: “Thousands of passengers will bring economic boost?

“You’d just be moving the money to a town that needs an economic boost less than the status quo.”

Chris Dee said: “I wonder if anybody at CalMac will be losing their job for ordering a vessel too big to get into the port they were using?”

South Ayrshire Council were told to kick their HQ plans into touch at a recent meeting.

Pamela Gilchrist said: “Thank God for that and what a great turn out to the meeting.

“The last thing Ayr needs is yet another council building.

“Ayr needs its name back on the map and that means a massive regeneration plan for the whole of the town centre.

“Come on South Ayrshire Council, get your finger out and start doing something constructive.”

Vinnie Roarty said: “So we’ll be back to square one and the effort to populate the bottom of the town will stall yet further.

“Indecision is worse than the wrong decision.

“The longer it takes to get people down there spending money in the businesses round about then the greater the risk of losing more business, including M&S which anchors the bottom of the town.

“What matters is the purpose it serves and not the way it looks.

“Just get on with it.”

We told that the New Bridge of Ayr was subject to a clean-up campaign.

Anne Mclanachan said: “Ayr is neglected, good luck guys.”

Jimmy Millar said: “Ayr Renaissance will pay consultants a fortune to see if they are allowed to do this no doubt.”

Martyn Cooksey said: “Ayr? Neglected? You must be joking.”

Patients were left in chaos as health chiefs warned they had no doctors to take appointments at Troon’s 101 surgery.

Kay Dunn Brown said: “The way patients have been treated, or lack of, has been shocking since original letters came out last year advising of closure.

“A lot of people should hang their heads in shame. I know I have been stressed out since last year about what was going to happen and as impending date of closure is near has scared me to bits.

“Disgusted about the way patients have been treated does not even cover how this has been handled.”
