A Prestwick man has set his sights on global success in a fast rising sport.
Footgolfer Gavin Craig is targeting a World Cup spot in Marrakesh this year.
The two-time Scottish national champ is being backed by local companies Arthur Street Kitchen, Stage Door Cafe and Hollybush Inn to play on this season’s UK Tour.
Gavin said:“I can’t thank these local businesses enough, it really means a lot.”
Global Quantum have also supplied financial backing, a fleece and battery packs for his miles of travel around the country.
Sainsbury’s worker Gavin said:“I’m grateful for all support received, and my store manager, Lynne Nimmo, has also been great allowing me to do shifts around playing my footgolf.”
Gavin, who became the first Scot to win a UK National Pro Tour Event last year, returned to the scene of his win on Sunday to finish tied 17th at Cambridge.
The tour heads to Celtic Manor at the end of June – scene of Europe’s famous Ryder Cup win in 2010.
The Scottish Tour begins this Sunday at Cumbernauld with Andy McKenzie Plumbing and Gas Services sponsoring Gavin for this particular Tour.
