Ayrodynamics in the running Ayrshire club represented in 5K road race
With race season now under way, the week kicked off on Wednesday evening with Ayrodynamic well represented at a windy Ron’s runners 5km road race.
The race started and finished at Irvine harbour.
In a highly competitive event which incorporated the Ayrshire championships everyone battled hard against the elements to produce some fantastic times.
Making a strong comeback from injury, Greg Turner finished a terrific 3rd overall in 17.07.
Next in was David Auchie, from Kilmarnock finishing 15th in a speedy 19.22 placing him second supervet in the Ayrshire Championships.
Graeme Wyllie came 27th in 20.46, Adan Mathieson 28th in 20.48 and Grant Young 24th in 23.52 placing well in their respective age groups.
In the female race, young Abi Middleton again showed great promise crossing the line sixth in 20.57 taking the under 20 years female Ayrshire Championship crown in the process.
Lorna Todd placed 8th in 21.23, also scooping a trophy in the Ayrshire championships placing second Veteran female.
Also finishing strong were Lorna Sloan, Kilmarnock, 19th in 25.05 and Fiona Herbertson 22nd in 25.21.
With other members choosing to race long distance, Mark McNulty from Kilmarnock faced the warm conditions of the London Marathon, crossing the line in a very respectable 3hours 47 mins.
Closer to home, this weekend saw three members tackle the 26.2 miles through the streets of Stirling and surrounding areas.
Graeme Wylie was first home in the marathon distance in 3hrs 39 mins followed by Steven Bryce in 4hours 59mins. Bryan Miller raced the half marathon and completed it in 2hrs.
Elsewhere, Gordon McBain completed a tough Culzean Cross Country challenge 10km in 1:02, Sam Cathcart took on a early season Triathlon that was rescheduled from when the Beast from the East caused severe disruption at Tranent Sprint Triathlon ( 750m swim/ 20km bike/5km Run) taking third place in the vintage age category.
Lyndsey Blair made the journey south to a sunny but breezy Oulton Park in Cheshire to take part in a sprint distance duathlon and finished sixth place in her age group.
