Fury at park cordoned off

-

I think I can say that, without fear of contradiction, Ayr Seafront Play Park is one of the town’s gems.

And judging by the number of coach parties that visit the park, it is not just the people of Ayr who enjoy the facility.

The park is, clearly, an attraction for many in the south west of Scotland, who fancy a day at the seaside.

And in these days of austerity, it’s great to find a place which provides great entertainment for the kids at little or no cost.

So with this in mind, you would think that, with the Easter bank holiday just gone and summer on its way, the park would be all ready to go.

After all, with the whole of winter to complete any repairs, some sort of priority would be given to what is after all one of the towns main attractions. Unfortunately, this being Ayr, it seems nothing could be further from the truth.

A major part of the park is cordoned off, preventing the kids from enjoying the climbing castle and the chutes. This facility is usually swarming with kids and it’s great to hear their screams of delight as they hurtle down the chutes.

The park attracts many visitors to Ayr, with the money they bring.

I find it almost unbelievable that the park is not ready for the oncoming season.

I’m under the impression the council’s opinion is “Oh, they’ll come anyway.”

What an attitude?
