TURNBERRY BARRED IRN- BRU

National drink ban after plush carpets are stained

- Stephen Houston

Scotland’s other national drink has been canned from trump turnberry.

The sensational ban has emerged after guests asked to be served up a glass of the rustycoloured fizzy stuff. They were declined despite Coca Cola and other soft drinks being available. Staff are terrified IRN- BRU will leave STAINS after Donald Trump spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on new carpets. The US president insists the five star resort remains pristine after he spent £ 200m on upgrades. Our source said: “Turnberry has banned the sale of IRN- BRU. I cannot believe the stupidity of it. “Turnberry wants to be Scotland’s favourite hotel, yet it no longer sells the country’s favourite fizzy drink.”

Scotland’s other national drink has been axed from trump turnberry.

The sensational ban emerged after guests asked to be served up a glass of the rusty- coloured fizzy stuff. They were declined, despite Coca Cola and other soft drinks being available. Staff are terrified IRN- BRU will leave stains after Donald Trump spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on new carpets. The US president insists the five- star resort must remain pristine after he spent £ 200m on upgrades. Our source said: “I cannot believe the stupidity of it. Turnberry wants to be Scotland’s favourite hotel yet it no longer sells the country’s favourite fizzy drink. “The food and beverage manager says IRN- BRU marks the carpets. “I think this is a bad move for the hotel’s reputation and it is sad all their international guests won’t get to savour this Scottish speciality.” A carpet cleaner called Stanley Friend quotes IRN- BRU as the worst stain to conquer in an article promoted by the cleaning product Vanish. He puts it above curry, coffee, Coca Cola, lipstick and red wine. The drink’s manufacturer AG Barr even offers carpet cleaning advice through its customer care department. Turnberry general manager Ralph Porciani confirmed that Bru is banned from the entire resort. He said: “We just cannot have it staining when to replace the ballroom carpet would be £ 500,000 alone. “I love IRN- BRU and I think I have really shot myself in the foot because I introduced it across the resort when I was food and beverage manager. “The only place it is available now is in the staff canteen. “We have villas here with IRNBRU stains in the carpets which I cannot let until they are replaced. “Every single one of them has big patches of IRN- BRU and each costs £ 1200.” Bru was taken out of room minibars in 2009 but guests were still buying it at the bar or at the clubhouse. All bedroom carpets in the main hotel are now cream so stains would be obvious. Ralph added: “It was purely a financial decision for us and we just don’t have a choice. “I grew up in a fish and chip shop and love Barrs. If they could make IRN- BRU that looked and tasted the same but didn’t stain the carpet I would get it back everywhere again.”
