Sharon’s locks get the chop
Big cut for charity
Ayr’s very own Rapunzel cut 15 inches off her golden locks in aid of charity.
Sharon Nicholson, from Ayr. faced the chop for the Little Princess Trust who provide real hair wigs to children and young adults who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and other illnesses. The 32- year- old had been growing her hair her whole life - only trimming the ends every so often. But Sharon let down her hair last Thursday, saying goodbye to blonde and hello to purple. The Meals on Wheels iCare worker wanted a fresh look and thought fundraising and donating her hair was the best way forward. Sharon said: “I fancied a change in my hair so I thought if I could do something for the Little Princess Trust then I would definitely do it. “I’ve just trimmed my hair for 32 years but never actually got it styled or anything. “I just thought it was a nice thing to do. “I don’t think any women would want to go through that, especially a wee child. “It’s not nice a thing and then some wigs are really itchy so at least if it’s real hair it’s better for the child. “My mum keeps saying ‘ oh no your hair!’ but she knows it’s a really nice thing I’m doing that benefits someone else. “It’s £ 500 - £ 600 to make the wig so I wanted to raise that and I’ve reached my goal so I’m very pleased with that but every little helps.” Sharon has raised £ 700 so far with donations still flooding in through her just giving page.
