Talk of the town from our social media

We told of rowdy youths binge drinking on school grounds in Kincaidston leaving smashed bottles lying around. Kate Hewardine said: “Parents at the school are getting pretty annoyed too when our kids don’t get to freely utilise the school’s resources such as the playground because a bunch of delinquents have left smashed glass all about it. “It’s also not fair on the janitor having to deal with the mess repeatedly.” Robert Auld added: “Surely the school has CCTV for evidential purposes?” While Thorarrin Jezard questioned: “Why not increase police patrols? It sounds like they’re relying on residents to do the policing for them.” Trump Turnberry was hailed the best in the business as it was crowned Hotel of the Year at the Scottish Hotel Awards. Andy Mcwilliam said: “I’ve lived in South Ayrshire all my life and never seen Turnberry hotel and golf courses look so good.” Sandra Wood said: “With Trump employing 410 staff it’s an asset to the area and restored a beautiful place to its rightful splendour. “The place was rapidly going downhill beforehand.” Sharon Wilson added: “Well done to all the staff who make staying here so special.” We told of council chiefs who have been urged to come clean over new parking charges set to hammer Prestwick. Tracy Thompson commented: “Prestwick is stretched as it is parking- wise, this is just profiteering. “As it’s Euro carparks, I’m thinking that it’s unlikely the funds will go towards a council budget.” Craig Murray added: “Is it worth pointing out that the money from parking charges will more than likely be diverted to the roads maintenance budget - paying to get roads repaired and keep council tax rises down?” Ayr traders pulled together to thank selfless 82- year- old Jean Ingram who brightens up Newmarket Street with her gardening talents. Rita Nicol said: “This lady is such a godsend to Ayr. “I’m glad she’s been shown some appreciation.” Julie Pringle added: “She always has been a ray of sunshine. “I haven’t seen her for about 15 or more years and she doesn’t look a day older in this photo than she did the last time I saw her. “So nice to see she’s still going strong.” David Gilchrist said: “Beautiful woman with a beautiful heart.” Teresa Doran commented: “Jean is a lovely person. “Glad she’s been shown appreciation.”
