Bronze for Lyndsey Strong performance in Nottinghamshire
On Saturday, Troon’s Lyndsey Blair raced at the Clumber Park Duathlon in Nottinghamshire.
This was a 5km run, 20km cycle finishing with another 2.5km run. The run course was a hilly out and back circuit and the cycle on undulating open roads. The conditions were perfect with the sun making a welcome appearance. Lyndsey finished in 1: 17: 05, taking the bronze medal in her age group and securing a place for the 2019 European duathlon championships. On Sunday, Glasgow Triathlon Club hosted Bishopbriggs triathlon which incorporated Youth, Novice and Sprint events. Again, the sun was out and the heat added to the challenge. Abigale Middleton, of Ayr, finished in 8th place in a competitive field in the youth event in 45: 23. Jennifer Murray and Katrina Livingston took on the Novice distance and finished in 1: 04: 07 and 1: 04: 10 respectively. In the Sprint distance event ( 750m swim/ 20km bike/ 5km Run) the first Ayrodymanic member to cross the line in his first triathlon was David Murray finishing in 1: 18: 44 and 14th veteran. Darren Nicol posted a speedy 20: 18 5km run time to finish in 1: 19: 14 overall and 16th in his age group( 18- 39). Tom McMaster also in the senior category finished in 1: 24: 24 in 20th position. However, 16th place seemed to be the order of the day with Chris Figgins also taking this position in the super veteran ( 50- 60) age category finishing the race in 1: 27: 10. Gordon McBain also did well in his first- ever sprint triathlon, completing the event in a 1: 42: 12. Also on Sunday morning Ayrodynamic held a 25 mile bike time trial that took place on the hilly course from Doonfoot, taking in the Electric Brae, past Culzean into Maidens and back again. Lorna Todd gave the performance of the day posting 1: 11: 15. David Auchie and Marc Auchie, Kilmarnock, rode well in 1: 10: 00 and 1: 11: 13 respectively. Scott Gourlay posted 1: 13: 29, Grant Young 1: 14: 40, Tommy Turner 1: 15: 15, Matt Brown 1: 19: 18 and Neil Nisbet 1: 27: 46. Finally , Steve White from Troon ventured south and participated in the 84km Tour de Yorkshire sportive, completing the challenging ride in 4 hours and 5 minutes.
