Maggi Laidlaw and Russell West

-

The couple

Care home worker Maggi Laidlaw, 35, married 34- year- old RJW Retail Limited director Russell West. Russell is originally from Ayr and Maggi was born in Glasgow. The couple have two children together, Aaran, 12 and two- yearold Taylor.

Their story

“We met through my brother Adam who worked with Russ at the time, introduced us both on a night out,” said Maggi. “We went on a lunch date about a month later at a quaint Irish pub. We had a few more dates and Russell cooked a lovely romantic meal one evening. It was presented like restaurant quality - needless to say I was impressed by his cooking skills.”

The wedding

The couple got married at Ayr Town Hall registry office on Thursday, March 29 this year followed by reception at the Treehouse restaurant in Ayr. Maggi said: “It was a beautiful day. We wanted something small and intimate with just our parents and our children there. “The ceremony was lovely, despite our wonderful son Taylor who is two- years- old chatting and walking all over my dress train! “I was giggling through the ceremony because of Taylor.

Attire

The groom wore a Ted Baker suit from Slaters, with matching suits for sons Aaran and Taylor from Roco online store. The bride’s dress and veil were from Diane Honeyman in Ayr, with her tiara from Debenhams. Alterations were made by Kathleen Richmond.

Honeymoon

“After the ceremony and pictures we booked a stretch limo to take us to Edinburgh for one night. “We stayed at the Nira Caledonia hotel and our suite even had a jacuzzi. “It was a beautiful luxury hotel and we are definitely going back there for anniversaries.”
