Slain Sharon greenop - now forever known as the woman who rotted away in her own home - should still be alIVe.

Questions have been raised about the goings on within the House of Horrors in Troon’s Aldersyde Avenue and could her death have been prevented Council bosses this week said Sharon had made the personal decision many months before her death that she wanted her killer Lynette and Sharon’s daughter Shayla to be her carers . But town MSP John Scott has called for an inquiry. He said: “Nobody was there for Sharon and lessons have to be learned. This is a tragedy not only for Sharon, but her family as well. “The safety nets that should have been in place obviously failed. “It is time for a hard look to be taken at the services that fell short in these dreadful circumstances.” It was the Ayrshire Post that first revealed the quiet Muirhead cul- de- sac had been sealed off by stunned police. Had it not been for next door neighbour Philip Martin, 69, demanding they investigate because of the foul stench, then her murder may have still not been uncovered. Killer sister Lynette, before she was arrested with niece Shayla in a dawn swoop at a pal’s house nearby, gave a “no comment” interview to the Post. She said: “The truth will all come out Mr Houston, no comment.” Lynette, who continued to coin it in by picking up benefits as her sister’s carer, had a scratch card habit. She would go into the then Londis store on Central Avenue and desperately seek a big win. It was the same store she would go in to buy fly spray and candles to mask the smell of death. Sharon had died in agony in her upstairs bedroom, her bony hand was found gripping the bed railing. The South Ayrshire Council midterrace - now apparently re- let - was a festering dump, and twisted slogans had been daubed on walls. One neighbour said: “Lynette and Shayla were both clearly bonkers and how anyone could think they could look after anyone is stretching belief. “Poor Sharon never stood a chance with a family like that.” Despite Lynette getting paid as an official carer, extra help was also provided over the years by carers. But in court carer Liz Morrison quit when Lynette lied, claiming she had broken her hip slipping on shower water Liz had left on the floor. The case has had a devastating impact on Sharon’s other sister Diane Hogg and their dad Derek. He had to quit his home in Muirhead after 40 years and now lives with Diane in Dundonald after gossip- mongers drove him out. They campaigned to have her body released as six month on they could still not stage the funeral at Masonhill. Diane said then: “I have to pickup these pieces and try to hold what’s left of my family together.” Tim Eltringham, director of the South Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, has declined calls for an investigation into Sharon’s care. He said: “Sharon Greenop’s death is a tragedy and the result of the most horrific crime committed by her sister – the person responsible for caring for her – and our thoughts and sympathies are with her wider family and friends. “As detailed in court, Sharon had made a personal decision many months before her death that the people she wanted to care for her were her sister and her daughter, and she stopped the home care services that were being provided – as she was entitled to do. “We took action in line with Sharon’s decision.”
