Alloway SWI AGM was held in Alloway Village Hall last week.

Retiring president, Linda Wallace opened the meeting and business continued with annual reports from secretary Margaret McCreath and treasurer Fiona Crowe.

Linda summarised the past year’s activities within the Institute.

Alloway participat­e in most activities organised by Ayrshire Federation whether baking, craft, carpet bowling or the annual quiz where a team gained third place.

A baking foursome has been entered at Ayr County Show and hopes for good marks.

Linda presented gifts to the prizewinne­rs of the monthly competitio­ns.

Housewifer­y 1st June Foreman, 2nd Margaret McCreath 3rd Marjory McCracken. In Handcrafts 1st equal were June Foreman and Angela Smith with Margaret McCreath 3rd.

Flower of the month 1st Janette Scobie, 2nd Marjory McCracken and 3rd Angela Smith.

Linda handed over to June Foreman who now becomes president. Small tokens of appreciati­on were given to both Linda and retiring minute secretary, Angela Smith.

Susan Stuart becomes vice- president and Maureen Stackpoole takes over as minute secretary.

This concluded the business part of the evening.

Margaret McCreath’s sister, Muriel Blair, was introduced and she skilfully showed three different floral arrangemen­ts giving hints and tips as she worked.

The first meeting of the new session will be held in Alloway Village Hall on September 12.
