Ministers swap pulpit for the golf course tee
Golfing ministers were in full swing for a charity event.
Reverend David Gemmell, of Ayr’s Auld Kirk, and Reverend Neil McNaught, of Alloway Church, were among the 20 ministers and congregation members who played golf for charity on Sunday.
The Ayr Presbytery Golf Day raised £ 210 for Broken Chains.
It is the third year in a row for the event, which sees congregations join forces for a good cause.
The sun shone as they took part in the fun- filled tournament at Seafield in Ayr.
Reverend Gemmell said: “The golfers from within the churches get together once a year. We put £ 10 in the kitty and raise money for a local charity. It was a brilliant event. The weather was great and the golf wasn’t too bad.
“The plan is to run it again next year. It is fun and raises money for charity.”
He added that it was a chance for folk to get together and meet members of other churches.
Afterwards they descended on the Balgarth Pines in Doonfoot for food.
Broken chains runs a drop in session at Holy Trinity Church hall in Ayr on Tuesday from 1.30pm for people affected by loneliness, addiction, mental health problems and other issues.
There is also a Sunday service from 2.30pm with worship where people share stories of how lives can be changed to bring hope.
