Pride of aero future in London
Aerospace apprentices from Prestwick have taken their place in the House of Commons.
The delegation made their visit as part of a celebration of the 12,000 apprenticeships provided by the UK’s Aerospace, Defence, Security and Space industries.
Dr Philippa Whitford, MP for Central Ayrshire, joined two apprentices from UTC Aerospace Systems, at the reception.
Organised by the trade organisation, ADS Group, and sponsored by United Technologies Aerospace Systems, the event recognised the valuable contribution apprentices make to high- skill manufacturing industries.
And it highlighted the worldleading technologies that many of the apprentices are working to develop.
Dr Whitford said: “I was delighted to welcome Sarah and Richard, two of the apprentices at UTC in Prestwick, to the House of Commons.
“Each year, the reception provides an excellent opportunity to meet young people from Central Ayrshire and beyond who are working towards highly- skilled and rewarding careers, and celebrate the huge talent we have working in these world- leading sectors.
“Having spent a great deal of time working with local aerospace companies since first being elected, it is always pleasing to meet the next intake of apprentices who are great ambassadors for our local area.”
Paul Everitt, chief executive of ADS Group, added: “Apprentices represent the future for our industries, which is why providing an opportunity for them to celebrate their contribution with their MP is so important.”
