Head along and celebrate Bookbug Week with East Ayrshire Leisure’s libraries, where there will be free, fun sessions based on the theme Bookbug’s Friends from Monday, May 14 to Sunday, May 20.

Bookbug is the Scottish Book Trust’s early years programme, which aims to encourage a love of books from a young age through a range of activities including storytelling, rhyming, singing and play.

This year’s Bookbug Week theme of friendship will see children and adults alike welcomed at sessions, celebrating that Bookbug is for all and encouraging everyone to enjoy the fun of sharing songs and rhymes together.

There will also be some great giveaways throughout the week.

Bookbug sessions are held in the Dick Institute, Auchinleck, Cumnock, Galston, Crosshouse and Stewarton libraries, with most operating on a drop- in basis with no need to book.

Sessions are aimed at babies and tots up to four years old, along with their parents or carers.

For session times and booking information, contact your local library. Telephone numbers can be found online at eastayrshireleisure. com.

Library membership is free to all residents and visitors of East Ayrshire.

Visit your nearest library or go to eastayrshire. com and click on the ‘ libraries’ tab to find out how to join.
