Woman kept drugs in private parts

- Sarah Hilley

An addict who hid esctasy drugs up inside her privates was rushed to A& E.

Police were called when worried residents spotted Margaret Vennard sweeping the street and acting bizarrely in Girvan.

Depute fiscal Jason Bell told Ayr Sheriff Court last week police found the “accused outside with a brush sweeping a path.”

Appearing in the dock, Vennard admitted concealing drugs within her body and failing to hand them over to officers at Ayr police station on March 21.

Describing her behaviour towards police, Mr Bell said she “appeared under the influence of something.”

She was admitted to a ward after being taken to A& E.

She eventually handed over the £ 40 worth of rock form ecstasy, weighing 1.43g, the following morning.

Vennard, 32, of Roxburgh Road, Girvan, pled guilty to having the class A drug in her possession on March 22. Solicitor Glenn Davis said Vennard had “briefly relapsed into street valium.”

He said: “She was seen acting bizarrely sweeping a path.”

He pointed out how Vennard had not been convicted of a crime since 2016 and ended up handing over the drugs voluntarily in the end.

Explaining her current state of mentality, he said she was now “stable on methadone.”

He said she was clear- headed and embarrased over her conduct.

Sentencing has been deferred for Vennard to be on good behaviour.
