Tennis ace Dominic is a smash hit

Repaying charities who did so much

- Lochlin Highet

Rising tennis star Dominic Iannotti made a mountain of cash by climbing Goat Fell.

The 20- year- old from Prestwick, who is number one in the world for his tennis category, made it to the top of the 2867ft peak on Arran.

Dominic was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome, which is on the autism spectrum, at a young age and is part of the Great Britain Learning Disability tennis team.

After three years in the sport, he is number one in the world for his doubles category and number three in the world for singles.

He competes in the mainstream tennis ranks and is in the top 10 for the South/ West Scotland overall.

He is currently part of an apprenticeship at Prestwick Tennis Fitness Club and is close to achieving his level three coaching badges that would allow him to coach anywhere in the world.

Dominic’ sd ad, Anthony, who runs the Iannotti Bros cash and carry, could not be more proud of him.

The 50- year- old, from Prestwick, said: “Dominic was diagnosed at a young age. We tried all kinds of things but nothing seemed to help.

“My wife went online and found children’s charity Bibic and we spoke to them. They were a godsend and they guided us and helped Dominic through a lot. Since then we haven’t looked back and he has became a fantastic kid.

“You would never know he had this syndrome and that’s credit to the hard work done.”

Dominic decided to give something back to the charities that have helped him over the years.

He climbed Goat Fell with a group of friends and raised £ 810 for Bibic and South Ayrshire Autistic Society.

Anthony said: “We are very proud of him.

“A lot of people now do fundraising for national charities but the local ones don’t get as much exposure or sponsors. We wanted to help Bibic as they were instrumental in helping the way Dominic is today and SAAS helped Dominic from a very young age.”
