Stalker declared love for two
A man has pled guilty to stalking his ex-partner for over two years, sending her “relentless” text messages.
Darren Davidson of Duncan Street in Girvan separated with his former partner of 17 years and bombarded her on a daily basis with messages and phone calls declaring his love for her.
Ayr Sheriff Court heard the 46-year-old’s ex last replied in May last year, telling Davidson not to contact her.
But Davidson continued to message for months, with the last text being in December.
Davidson also wrote a two-page handwritten letter asking to get back together.
The court heard the ex-partner was extremely upset and harassed as the constant attempts to contact her were affecting her new relationship, and she had to attend doctor appointments for anxiety.
Defence solicitor Tony Currie said: “He had a great difficulty that this relationship had come to an end and his partner went into a new relationship.
“He has no intention of contacting his former partner.
“He spends long periods away from home so the vast majority of these messages were when he was away and had time on his hands.
“In short, slowly but surely he has appreciated what he has done.”
Sheriff Carole Cunninghame said: “Your behaviour was over a prolonged period of time and you were fixated on bombarding this lady which ultimately affected her health and well-being.
The Sheriff deferred sentencing for Davidson to be of good behaviour, adding: “That will also give you time to make savings for the possibility of a financial penalty which could include a fine and compensation to this lady.”
Davidson pled guilty to causing his former partner fear or alarm between November 30, 2015 and December 11, 2017 by repeatedly making unwanted telephone calls and leave unwanted voicemail messages, sending unwanted text messages to her and write an unwanted letter and deliver it to her home address.
Davidson also approached her and her new partner and shouted, swore and act in an aggressive manner towards him, uttering abusive remarks and challenging him to fight.
Davidson will appear at a later date for sentencing.
