Tom’s Rotary honour

-

Ayr Rotary Club recently held their AGM when the usual administrative business was dealt with by president Craig Wilson and secretary Douglas Haddow.

Tom Cunningham was awarded honorary membership for his long-time commitment to the club.

Tom moved from Hawick in 1974 to become postmaster in Ayr and was club president in 1986. The evening also saw the club welcome its latest new member, John Dunlop.

John grew up as a boy in Ayr and has recently moved back there.

The club’s principal guest for the evening was Liz Campbell, of South Ayrshire Dementia Support Group.

Liz was there for the formal presentation of a cheque for £5000, raised at the club’s successful annual golf day event.

She thanked Ayr Rotary Club for the generous gift that she said would help to make life a little easier for many dementia sufferers and their carers throughout South Ayrshire.
