Rotarians donate sum to cause close to their hearts

-

Rotary members have donated £200 to a charity close to the club’s hearts.

Girvan Rotary Club presented Samantha Reilly, full-time Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) worker, with a cheque for the charity at one of their meetings last month.

Club members estimate that they, with the help of Girvan and Dailly residents, have donated a whopping £32,000 to the charity over the years.

Samantha talked about the work of CHAS and, in particular, its last very exciting three years where the charity has broadened its base and now helps many more families and children.

Samantha said: “Through our hospices, home care services and hospital presence, CHAS provides palliative care, family respite and support throughout Scotland.

“Knowing that your child may die before you do is the unthinkable reality that thousands of families across Scotland have to cope with every day.”

Following tradition in the Rotary Club, whereby near the end of a president’s term in office they must donate funds to any charity of their choice, President John Andrews chose CHAS.
