Another sixyears ofhouse building

- Sarah Hilley

A community council has hit out about a decision to allow a developer to extend planning permission for another six years.

Mactaggart & Mickel were first granted planning permission in 2010 to build hundreds of houses, a care home and shops.

Now the developer has had an extension approved to continue construction until 2024 in Doonfoot.

Alloway and Doonfoot commmunity council secretary Brendan Ferguson said: “It has been approved much to the great disappointment of the community council. We feel given the length of time since the original application people should get the opportunity to look again at the plans. It doesn’t seem to take into account the changes in the world since then.”

A spokeswoman from Mactaggart & Mickel said the additional timeframeis needed to finish construction.

The work will take place in five stages and the developer is half way through.

A controversial care home will also be erected on Dunure Road despite protest.
