Take a walk with the touring heroes
Join the Band of the Royal Regiment of Scotland as they march up to the Grand Hall, Kilmarnock, as part of their Walking with Heroes tour on Friday, June 15.
The concert, which commemorates 100 years since the end of The Great War, will feature works by iconic composers including Holst (Mars), Shostakovich (Festive Overture), John Williams (Liberty Fanfare) and Karl Jenkins (Stabat Mater), as well as a number of new compositions, a host of soloists, traditional Scottish fare and the unmistakable skirl of the Pipes.
This first ever national tour of Scotland’s State Band will raise money for Poppyscotland, helping them to continue providing life-changing support to the Armed Forces community.
East Ayrshire Provost John Todd, who was joined in Kilmarnock recently by members of the band to help promote the event, said:“What a treat it will be to have Scotland’s best-known military band play in Kilmarnock.
“I would encourage people to get their tickets for this concert as soon as possible as I’m sure it will be an incredible experience and one that will hopefully raise thousands of pounds for Poppyscotland.
“It will be a fine and fitting tribute to those who served and to those who gave their lives so selflessly in The Great War.”
Come along and honour Britain’s bravest - past and present.
The event begins at 7.30pm and tickets, £15/£12, are available from the Palace Theatre box office on 01563 554900 or from eastayrshireleisure.com.
