The millionaire neighbour has been trying to sell her amazing castle for more than three years.

Kate Armstrong, the founder of confused.com, does want offers over £3.9 million for Cassillis Castle after spending £3.5m bringing the old Ailsa pile sitting on 300 acres into the 21st century.

Snap up the farm that borders the estate and hopefully you can pop over and meet the new Cassillis laird once it is finally sold.

Situated near the Doon between Minishant and Dalrymple, Crorieshill Farm and its 142 acres has just gone on the market at offers over £895,000.

Like many smaller farms, it used to have a milking herd before shifting into sheep and suckler cows.

Galbraith in Ayr have split the sale into six lots if required – land is on a seasonal lease until October.

If you just want to buy the farmhouse, steading and 11 acres the price drops to offers over £420,000.

The steading has fine old byres as well as modern era barns and a Crendon shed.

The four-bedroom Crorieshill farmhouse was built in stone 140 years ago. It is attached to a 110-foot long dairy which offers a wealth of development opportunities.

The present family has run the farm for almost 50 years and made sure that everything is in fine condition.

Galbraiths say the land is in “excellent heart” and most of it faces south west and all below 250 feet above sea level.

Any redevelopment would be a good opportunity to update the house, including kitchen and bathrooms.

Downstairs there are three big receptions, all with high ceilings.

Upstairs there are the four bedrooms and family bathroom.

As well as the stone dairy wing for the old herd, this section also has a separate washhouse and stores.

Standing alone is a granary and former cart shed below which seems ripe for a new lease of life or home business.

Modern buildings include a 60ft Dutch Barn and various other cattle sheds are positioned across the road.

The road to Crorieshill is very quiet, leading to one other house and another farm.

All in all this could be an amazing place to live with huge opportunity to expand it to suit your personal needs.

Viewing is through Galbraiths on 01292 268181, offers over £895,000.
