On the ice for a fantastic cause

-

A special ice hockey match will take place in August in an effort to raise money for two special charities.

The match will take place at Ayr Ice Rink on Saturday, August 18 to raise money and awareness for Crosshouse Neonatal Unit and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

This comes as ice hockey players Ross Andreucci and Andrew Brown put their heads together and thought of ways to help charities that helped them with their children.

Ross’two-year-old daughter was saved thanks to 24/7 care at the hands of staff from the unit.

When she was born, Millie weighed less than a bag of sugar – and dad Ross says if it wasn’t for the efforts of Crosshouse staff, she wouldn’t be here today.

And his friend Andrew’s 10-year-old son, Ryan, has a rare form of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy which is a genetic disorder characterised by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness.

Ross, who played for Kilmarnock Storm last year, said:“We have done separate charity matches in recent years, but we are combining this year.”It will be donations on the door from 3pm.
