A Prestwick cricket legend played his part in history on Sunday as Scotland downed the Auld Enemy for the first time in their history.

Allan Haggo, honourary vice president at the Henry Thow Oval, umpired the nowfamous clash at the Grange.

Haggo, 56, was standing in just his fourth ICC match as Scotland roared to a stunning win in Edinburgh.

He said:“It was an amazing atmosphere but I tried to treat it like any other game.

“I was umpiring Irvine v Ayr on the Wednesday night before, so it was quite a change!”

Haggo became an iconic figure at Prestwick after playing alongside brother, David, for more than 25 years.

Honourary club president, Tommy Halpin, said:“It’s brilliant for Allan and a great honour for Prestwick Cricket Club.”
