Firm shows the Spirit to team up with top cause

-

An Ayrshire charity has sprouted wings after receiving a significant funding boost from one of the region’s leading employers.

The Ayrshire Hospice has been named Spirit Aerosystems’ nominated charity partner for the period between 2018- 2020.

Spirit, which has a base in Prestwick, selects a charity partner every two years and recently circulated a survey to all of their employees to help choose a new organisation that would benefit from the company’s support over the next two years.

And employees voted in favour of sending their support to the much- valued work of the hospice.

Michelle McNeil, communications manager at Spirit Aerosystems, said: “We’re delighted to be raising funds to support Ayrshire Hospice, which is a charity close to our employees’ hearts.

“We’ll be working hard throughout the partnership to raise as much as we can for this deserving cause.”

The decision follows the huge success of the annual Team Spirit charity Burns supper, which raised an impressive £ 38,360 in aid of the local charity at this very early stage of the partnership.

Ron Swanson, assistant fundraising manager at the Ayrshire Hospice, said: “We are absolutely delighted that Spirit Aerosystems has selected us as their chosen charity partner for the next two years and it’s particularly meaningful as the hospice has been chosen by their employees.

“To raise over £ 38,000 at their first event in aid of the hospice is truly incredible and every penny raised during the partnership will be gratefully received by everyone at the hospice.

“We very much look forward to working with Michelle and the team at Spirit Aerosystems.”
