Thank you to volunteers
Dedication celebrated during week
More than 620 dedicated volunteers were celebrated and honoured through Ayrshire Hospice’s Volunteer Week earlier this month.
The hospice recognises that their volunteers are highly valued and integrated members of the team, and wanted to celebrate their hard work.
Some of the charity’s volunteers have been dedicating their time and skills for the last 34 years – since the very beginning of the hospice.
Chief executive Mandy said: “We are extremely grateful to all of our volunteers for the invaluable support they provide - without them it would be extremely difficult to deliver the exceptional hospice service that we do. It is important that we celebrate our volunteers’ contributions, recognising the significant amount of time they donate as well as the vast skills and experience they bring to our organisation.
Mandy added: “Nationa l Volunteers’ Week is a time when we can loudly celebrate all they do, and remind everyone that hospice volunteers are very special people who give deeply from their hearts.
“A huge thank you to each and every one of our wonderful Ayrshire Hospice volunteers.”
Hospice retail volunteer, 20- yearold Chantelle McNelis started volunteering in the Irvine shop in August 2017.
She said: “Before I started volunteering I was a really nervous person.
“However, having been here for almost 10 months, I now feel that I have developed my confidence and social understanding.
“It has made me a lot calmer and I have become a better listener.
“All of the help and support that I have received whilst volunteering in the shop I know will help me to gain employment in the future.
“The Irvine shop is such a warm and friendly place to be and I am so proud to be a part of it.”
