Gun challenge in online video

-

A 52- year- old man was caught flaunting guns online.

James Gordon of Hillpark, Mossblown, was fined £ 200 after he posted a video of himself holding guns on his Facebook page on January 1.

Ayr Sheriff Court heard Gordon had been heard in the video saying: “Any c*** want a go?”

He also posted a photograph with the guns placed on a blanket and captioned it: “This is what I woke up to.”

Police went to his home with a search warrant.

Solicitor John Gallagher said the guns “weren’t capable of use in any way,” adding that Gordon was very drunk during the festive period.

Mr Gallagher said: “So concerned were the police at these weapons that the search was carried out four days later.

“Although he has a record, he’s been out of trouble for some time now.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie said: “This was a stupid thing to do.

“There was some concern at the time it took for the search so someone somewhere probably wasn’t taking it too seriously.”

Gordon pled guilty to sending a message through social media to others that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.

He also had what appeared to be firearms in his possession, swore and challenged others to engage in violence.
