We told that a smoking ban outside cafes could be ditched as councillor­s get set to vote on the issue.

Jimmy Millar said: “The ban is a joke.

“I stopped smoking years ago but do not have a problem with allowing others to light up.”

Patricia Workman said: “I do not smoke but I see nothing wrong with it.

“How about banning beggars from Ayr?”

“It’s perfect as an internatio­nal hub and commuters in south west Scotland have been waiting too long for a great connection south of the border.”

Our Memory Lane featured a picture of Ayr Beach in 1960, which really peaked interest.

Margaret Mcilwraith Nyborg said: “This was really Memory Lane to me!

“Living in Scotland many a year ago I remember trips to the Beach in Ayr.

“We children had a great time in and out of the sea, while our mum and auntie sat fully dressed having a nice cup of tea!

“Lovely memories.”

The council are set to U- turn on Troon parking charges.
