Kids take the nature trail

-

Kids can enjoy the great outdoors this summer with a fantastic programme of events led by East Ayrshire Leisure’s Countryside Rangers.

From fossicking for fossils and foraging for food, to den- building, pond- dipping and learning about bushcraft, there’s plenty in store to keep nature- loving youngsters entertained throughout the holidays.

You can join the Rangers for a night- time bat walk, explore the beasties slithering through the undergrowth, make a wormery wonderland or even take home your very own caterpillar and watch it transform into a beautiful Painted Lady butterfly, ready to be released.

With sessions taking place throughout the summer at Dean Castle Country Park and Howard Park in Kilmarnock, as well as sites in Patna, Dunlop, Drongan and Ness Glen near Loch Doon, don’t miss the chance to get out in the fresh air and learn all about our natural environment the fun way.

Countryside holiday activities run from Tuesday, July 3, to Thursday, August 16.

For full details on all of the events taking place, visit eastayrshireleisure.com and click on the Summer Programme link.
