Robbie’s Troon champ
Robbie Muir ( Kilmarnock Barassie) is the new Troon Links golf champion.
He beat Sam Findlater ( Welbeck) 3& 2 in a sun- drenched final at Royal Troon on Saturday evening.
In the semi- finals, Muir beat Robbie Stewart ( Troon Portland) at the 19th while Findlater ousted Adrian Orton ( Kilmarnock Barassie) 4& 3.
Ballochmyle will bid to defend the Ayrshire Club Championship, for the RL Crawford Trophy, at West Kilbride on Sunday.
Calum McKirdy is the only member of last year’s winning Ballochmyle team.
He is joined by Craig Hamilton and Gary Holland in the 14- team competition.
Winners will represent Ayrshire in the Scottish Club Championship at The Montgomery course, Kinross, on September 23.
The Ayrshire Fourball Championship has reached the quarter- final stage with ties due by July 29.

Henry Thomson ( Irvine) was highest placed Ayrshire player in the Scottish Senior Men’s Open Championship at Irvine Golf Club.
Thomson finished joint 20th on 228 (+ 12), following rounds of 73, 78 and 77.
The championship was won by Ronnie Clark ( Erskine) who took the title in a three way play off after the leaders tied on 221.
